Icon Tire LLC

Icon Tire LLC, located in Portland, OR, is a tire development, branding, and marketing company that is introducing new tire technology so as to improve safety. Primary efforts will be the sale of tires with "Visual Tire Performance Indicators" (VTPI) through independent dealer retail outlets and warehouses in the North American Market (USA and Canada).

VTPIs are designed to help drivers easily see the need for maintenance and replacement related to tread depth, inflation, alignment and rotation. The studs have been developed through a non-exclusive license of Smart Tread LLC's (www.safetires.org) patented performance testing and identification method, and Icon's patent pending stud design

Launching the I/Q LT7, in the fall of 2008, Icon will offer a line of SUV/Light Truck replacement tires in twelve popular sizes. Also, under development is a line of Ultra High Performance (UHP) tires. The Icon I/Q Sport will be available in 2009.

Smart Tread LLC

Established in 2003, Smart Tread, LLC has undertaken a mission to improve traffic safety by helping to remove dangerously worn tires from our public roads and highways. With Safe and Sound Trust, the company has launched the National Safe Tire Coalition. The company owns and controls worldwide patent rights to a business process by which tires are given a "Visual Tire Performance Indicator" (VTPI). Established by testing a tire's wet traction performance as it wears, colored indicators warn the driver when the tire has been worn to a depth that traction performance has been significantly impacted under wet/winter weather conditions. A second colored indicator will let the driver know that the tire has reached the end of its tread life as designated by the manufacturer.

Safe and Sound Trust

Safe and Sound Trust is a registered 501(c)(4) nonprofit foundation. It holds a 51 percent share of ownership in Smart Tread, LLC. As established, the Trust's main purpose is improving the lives of children and their families in the following areas:

• Safety in the Home
• Education
• Health
• Poverty

Through the success of Smart Tread and its mission, thousands of injuries will be prevented, and lives will be saved each year. In its financial success, that impact will continue through the efforts of Safe and Sound Trust.
